TransVault is a migration solution vendor and a MirrorSphere partner. They have created and engineered two archive migration solutions.
MirrorSphere have embarked on multiple email archive migrations and are seeing a huge increase of these projects due to the popularity of the cloud. As more people move to the cloud, there is a need to consider their archived emails. MirrorSphere are a partner of TransVault, a vendor of specialist tools for such scenarios In this post, we discuss their two solutions Migrator and Sprint.
1. TransVault Migrator
TransVault’s flagship product, capable of Migrating to and from a variety of archiving solutions, with a range of configurational settings to suit specific needs.
2. TransVault Sprint
The streamlined version, based on the most common configuration needs of previous Migrator projects. Focused on Migrating from Enterprise Vault archives to Office 365 or another Enterprise Vault archive.
When is using TV Sprint preferable to using TV Migrator?
As mentioned, Sprint was born out of optimising the best performance from previous migration products for the most common configuration. If your migration project requires migrating from Enterprise Vault archives to Office 365 or other Enterprise Vault archives (possibly on a different site), Sprint would more than likely be the preferable solution. This would be determined after a short reconnaissance of your environment and migration needs. Future Sprint versions (coming very soon!) will also support migrating EAS and PST files.
What are the cost advantages of using TV Sprint?
Both Sprint and Migrator are now billed per TB of data. As Sprint is a streamlined version of TransVault Migrator, it is expectedly a lower cost product.
What are the timescale differences?
TransVault Sprint is expectedly is a faster migration solution, with smaller timescales. The greatest reduction in timescale is provided by the simplicity of the configuration of TransVault Sprint. As there are less configurable features to Sprint, it is quicker and easier to set up and utilise.
Although, both use the Migrator under the bonnet, the timescale of Sprint is reduced due to its simplicity and optimisation of the underlying product based on previous projects.

TransVault Migrator also has the ability to handle Public Folder archive migration from Enterprise Vault archives, which Sprint does not provide.
What are the GUI differences between the two?
The most obvious difference between the two projects is the overall look. Sprint has a much more slick interface whereas the Migrator may not be as polished, but it is more flexible and allows granularity.
Sprint then logically walks you through the process of configuring TransVault. In contrast, TransVault Migrator provides no hand holding, and all features must be manually configured.
Overall
Sprint is quickly becoming the perfect archive migration solution. If migrating from Enterprise Vault, PST or EAS and migrating to Office 365 or Enterprise Vault, it is the solution for you – especially as Public Folder archives in EV will now be available as a source connection.
However, there are many configurable benefits of TransVault Migrator as discussed, so it is not just for alternate connections.
