Customer Profile
An agricultural trading company which processes business between countries which have surplus produce with those with high demand. The company has an annual revenue of $16.9 billion and delivers 47 million tonnes of products and employs 10,000 people in 29 countries.
The Requirement
The company was separating from its sister company and needed to migrate 3,400 mailboxes to its own domain. Alongside the mailbox migration, there was a requirement for the associated mailbox archives.
MirrorSphere’s task was to migrate archived mailbox data (197 million items) from Enterprise Vault to Exchange archives, with an added complication of a deadline of when the two companies cut all ties from each other.
The Solution
The TransVault migration tool, which MirrorSphere has used extensively to conduct clients’ data migrations, was deemed the best possible solution for this complex project.
A MirrorSphere Consultant first extracted and migrated as much data across-domain from each region’s Enterprise Vault servers in the sister company’s domain, removing shortcuts as part of the extraction process before the domain trust was removed, completing the migration of 3 out of the 5 regions.
Within weeks of the two companies cutting ties, MirrorSphere constructed a plan to migrate the remaining 2 regional Enterprise Vault installations to the company’s domain.
The company then decided to move data from their Exchange servers to Office 365, with TransVault’s comprehensive reporting being utilised to enable the team to migrate the necessary mailboxes in a structured way with priority mailboxes being moved first, taking into account the status of the archive migration.
