Top 9 Features of Nutanix Acropolis Operating System 5.0 release.
Nutanix recently released the latest version of their Arcopolis Operating System 5.0. With a host of improvements and some new features, we will do a the top 9.
1-Node Replication Target
Single Node Replication/Snapshot Target. For use with smaller deplohyments, specifically ROBO or SMB. Useful if Local backups are the only option as bandwidth/cost issues are an issue.
Acropolis Block Services (ABS)
Acropolis Block Services not adds Dynamic Load Balancing, IP Based Whitelisting, Wider client support (RHEL 7, OL 7, ESXI 6) DR Imporvement and a few others.
Acropolis Dynamic Scheduling (ADS)
An improvement in ADS now provides balancing of resoruces across a cluster (CPU, RAM, DIsk & Memory), Host spots/contention alerts, avoid noisy neighbors and ideal initial VM placement.
Acropolis File Services (AFS)
Too many to list, but here are a few. Supported on ESXi and AHV, integration with Windows Previous Version (WPV).
Cluster Network Visualisation
This is a very nice feature as it brings the Network element into the light. Helps with troubleshooting VM and Host netorking Issues
Compression 2.0
Improvements in compression ratio and compression and decompression
Nutanix Cluster Check 3.0
NCC 3.0 performance has been improved, a typlical check on a 4 node cluster was 40 minutes and has been reducted to 5 minutes. More than 300 checks are available in the UI. Log collector now consumes less space.
Prism Self Services
Self serivce portal enabled on every Acropolis Hypervisor (AHV) cluster, no complex install or configuration needed. Self service support for AHV providing role based access control to a web-based portal for users to provision VMs and manage those VMs they created.
VM Scheduling Policies
The Ability to define VM-Host strict affinity, directly within the UI. Can be useful for Software License compliance, Application Performance or Hardware Segmentation (GPU requirements) and others.
