Nutanix Hardware Discovery Software Editions
As I said in an earlier post, once I had the list of what is included in a Nutanix Hardware Discovery Software Editions I would post it. So here they are:

Remainder of the Hardware in the Nutanix Discovery Kit
The Nutanix Discovery Hardware uses two of the lowest specifications of hardware available, but they are more than capable in their own right.
Below is a list of hardware that each Nutanix NX-1020 and NX-1050 contain
NX-1020 | NX-1050 | |
---|---|---|
Server Compute | Single Intel Ivy Bridge E5-2620V2, 6 Cores / 2.1Ghz |
Dual Intel Sandy Bridge E5-2620, 12 Cores / 2.0Ghz |
Storage Capacity | 200GB SSD 2 x 1TB HDD |
400GB SSD 4 x 1TB HDD |
Memory | Configurable 32GB or 64GB |
Configurable 64GB or 128GB |
Network Connections | 2 x 1GbE Optional NIC (add 2 x 1GbE) 1 x 10100 Base-T RJ45 |
2 x 10GbE 2 x 1GbE 1 x 10100 Base-T RJ45 |
What software edition would I go for?
Without a doubt, I’d go for the Pro software edition.
Why?
Mainly, it has KVM Hypervisor machine management, this will save $$$s if you don’t already have spare VMware or Hyper-V licensing lingering about.
It does miss the Mulitsite DR features, that allows 1 site to be replicated to many other sites, or many sites to 1 site, but I’m not sure how many people, when dipping their toes into this technology would worry about this feature.
But with the Nutanix Discovery Hardware, the bundles allow you to purchase 2 sets of the NX-1320 or NX-1350 allowing a nice option in compute performance and memory capacity and thus provides an increase in your VM performance, but also DR right off the bat.
What about storage capacity?
Admittedly they are a little low, but to get extra storage capacity, Nutanix a releasing Storage Nodes, that are about 30TB in size, so you can use that protected storage to host extra large volumes.
